What cards does OakLab work on?
Pokémon, other trading card games, sports, vintage and other collectible cards. Every card is assessed individually, as suitability depends on its material, finish, condition and value.
Do you specialise in Pokémon?
Pokémon cards are a big part of what we see, but we assess all kinds of collectible cards. Holographic and textured finishes always need individual assessment.
Can every damaged card be restored?
No. Some damage can’t be treated safely or meaningfully. If we don’t think treatment is sensible, we’ll tell you before any work is agreed.
Can restoration improve a grade?
We don’t promise grade improvements. Grading decisions are made solely by grading companies, and restoration may affect how they treat a card.
Can restored cards be graded?
That depends entirely on each grading company’s policies. Some may decline, label or treat restored cards differently. Please check with your chosen company before submitting.
Does OakLab submit cards to grading companies?
No. Cards are returned directly to you. Any grading submission is your decision and your arrangement.
How long does restoration take?
It depends on the card and the treatment. We’ll give you an estimated timeframe with your quote, before you send anything.
How should I ship my card?
Please don’t send anything until you’ve approved a quote. We’ll then send packaging guidance and the delivery address. Use protective sleeves, a rigid holder and tracked, insured postage.
What happens if my card cannot be improved?
If we find during the process that treatment isn’t achievable, we’ll stop, contact you and agree the next step — including returning the card.
Do you accept high-value cards?
Yes, subject to assessment. High-value cards are always quoted individually and we’ll discuss shipping and handling with you first.
How is my card documented?
We photograph and record the card’s condition on arrival, and again after treatment, so there’s a clear before and after record.
How much does restoration cost?
The Lab Menu shows provisional starting prices. Your final quote depends on the card’s value, condition and the work required, and is agreed before work begins. Return postage is additional unless stated.
Do you restore sports cards?
Yes, sports cards can be assessed. Older card stocks can be delicate, so suitability is decided card by card.
Do you restore vintage cards?
Yes, vintage cards can be assessed. Age, paper quality and printing methods all affect what’s realistically achievable.
